About Scarefest

What is Scarefest?

Scarefest is an event for Scouts, Guides, Explorers and Rangers, themed around spooky themes, frights, fun, and fireworks night.

Scarefest originated from an idea in 2007 and has since grown into a large weekend event.
The dedicated small volunteer team that first dreamt up the event continues to run it and now seeks help to elevate it to the next level.
Due to the pandemic, the 2020 event was halted, and a virtual online event was created instead. The below short film showcases the history of Scarefest.

The original idea was to create an event unlike any other, pushing boundaries and delivering an unforgettable experience for both young people and leaders. The aim is for everyone to have fun, with leaders not having to take on too much leadership during the event.

An event built on volunteers

Without the incredible support of volunteers, Scarefest simply wouldn’t happen. Over 150 volunteers attend the event weekend, with a small core team dedicating time onsite either side of the weekend to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Year-round planning involves everything from designing logos and coordinating activities to orchestrating the entire fireworks display. All of this is done by passionate and committed volunteers.

Their dedication, creativity, and hard work are what make Scarefest an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who make this event possible! 😊
